  • Inlet/Feed value
The feed valve of a washing machine—also known as the inlet valve or water inlet valve—is a key component that controls the flow of water into the machine from your household water supply.
? Function of the Feed Valve:

        Controls Water Entry:

Opens and closes to allow cold and/or hot water into the drum or wash tub at the correct time and amount.

        Automated Operation:

Controlled by the washer’s timer or electronic control board.

Opens during the fill portion of the wash and rinse cycles, then closes to stop the flow.

        Mixes Hot and Cold Water:

In machines with dual inlets, the valve can regulate both hot and cold water to achieve the desired wash temperature.

    ⚙️ How It Works:

        Usually electrically operated using solenoids.

When power is applied, the solenoid opens the valve, allowing water to flow through.

When power is cut, the valve closes, stopping water flow.

    ? Typical Structure:

Solenoid coil(s): Controls the opening and closing of the valve.

Filter screen(s): Prevent debris from entering the machine.

Inlet ports: Connect to water hoses (hot/cold).

    ? Location:

Usually located at the back upper portion of the washing machine.

Where the external water hoses are attached.

? Signs of a Faulty Feed Valve:

Washer doesn’t fill or fills slowly.

Water keeps flowing even when the machine is off (stuck open valve).

Error codes (on digital machines) related to water supply or inlet issues.

Uneven water temperature or no hot/cold water.

    ?️ Maintenance Tips:

Clean filter screens periodically to prevent clogs.

Ensure hoses are securely connected and not kinked.

Replace the valve if it becomes noisy, leaky, or fails to open/close properly.
